Dream Interpretation

Deep analysis and interpretation of your dreams

You describe a dream in free text and receive symbolic, archetypal and psychological analysis. Dominant symbols, archetypes (Jung), emotional tone of the dream and recurring motifs are identified. The analysis distinguishes prophetic, processing and creative dreams, and provides interpretation in the context of your current life question or state. Recommendations for working with dreams and keeping a dream journal are included.

Where it comes from

Dream interpretation has written records going back to the Egyptian Chester Beatty papyrus of around 1350 BC and the Mesopotamian dream omens. Artemidorus of Daldis compiled the Oneirocritica in the second century AD, a five-volume catalogue of dream symbols that remained in use for over a thousand years. The modern era begins with Freud's Interpretation of Dreams in 1899, which treated dreams as disguised wish fulfilment, and with Jung, who broke from him by reading dream images as belonging to a shared symbolic inheritance rather than only to personal history.

How the method works

Interpretation works from the dream as told, not from a fixed dictionary, because the same image means different things to different dreamers. The method asks what the image is doing in the dream — chasing, falling, losing something, arriving late — since the action carries more than the object. Recurring dreams and the emotion on waking are treated as the strongest signals. Symbol dictionaries are used as a starting vocabulary, not as an answer key.

What a reading covers

A reading gives the main images with their common meanings and their likely personal ones, the action of the dream, what the emotion on waking points to, and what in current life the dream appears to be working on.

Common questions

Do dream symbols mean the same for everyone?
Some recur across cultures — falling, teeth, being chased, unprepared examinations. What they mean for you still depends on your associations.
Why do I forget my dreams?
Memory consolidation is weak in REM sleep. Dreams recalled are usually those interrupted, which is why waking during the night produces more recall than sleeping through.
Do recurring dreams mean something specific?
They are treated as the strongest material, on the reasoning that something unresolved keeps returning. The content usually shifts slightly each time, and the shifts are read as progress.
