Where it comes from
Lilith appears first in Mesopotamian demon lists, then in Jewish folklore — the Alphabet of Ben Sira, a text of roughly the ninth or tenth century, tells the story of a first wife of Adam who refused to lie beneath him and left Eden of her own accord. In astrology the name was attached in the twentieth century to a calculated point rather than a body: the Black Moon Lilith, the empty focus of the Moon's elliptical orbit. There is also an asteroid named Lilith and a hypothetical second moon called Dark Moon Lilith, which is why different sources give different positions.
How the method works
Black Moon Lilith is read by sign and house. The sign describes the quality of what was refused or pushed out of view; the house describes the area of life where that happens. The aspects it makes to the personal planets say what triggers it. Interpretation centres on what a person will not compromise on, what they were shamed for, and where they meet resistance for refusing to accommodate.
