Where it comes from
The universal year is the collective counterpart of the personal year in Western numerology. The personal year describes one person's cycle; the universal year describes the number of the calendar year itself, and is read as the atmosphere everyone shares. The idea belongs to the same twentieth-century body of practice and is used mainly as background against which a personal number is read.
How the method works
The digits of the calendar year are added and reduced to one: 2026 gives ten, which reduces to one, so 2026 is a universal one year and is read for beginnings. The universal month is the universal year added to the number of the calendar month and reduced again. The reading proper is in the relation between the universal number and your personal one. A personal nine inside a universal one is a person finishing something while everything around them starts; a personal one inside a universal one is the same current running both ways.
