A precession correction is calculated for each star to the birth date and an orb of ≤3° is checked. The type emerges from the tightest conjunction: Sirian, Pleiadian, Lyran, Arcturian, Antarian, Orion or Andromedan. Where it comes from
Starseed belief comes out of the New Age and contactee literature of the second half of the twentieth century — the idea that some people carry a soul origin in another star system and incarnate here with a purpose attached to it. Its astrological form grafts that onto the much older practice of reading fixed stars in a chart, using the bright stars that carry the heaviest traditional symbolism.
How the method works
Eleven stars are used — Sirius, Alcyone in the Pleiades, Vega, Arcturus, Antares, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Aldebaran, Spica, Regulus and Deneb. Each is corrected for precession to the year of birth, since star positions shift about a degree every seventy-two years, and checked against the natal planets for conjunction within three degrees. The tightest conjunction names the primary type: Sirian, Pleiadian, Lyran, Arcturian, Antarian, Orion or Andromedan. Many charts have no conjunction inside that orb at all, which is the common case rather than a failure, and the fallback derives a secondary type from the life path number and the tropical Moon sign instead. The types carry described characters — Pleiadian read as attuned and sensitive, Arcturian as analytical and building, Sirian as teaching and transmitting — and the reading is of that character as it sits in the rest of the chart.

- Is this traditional astrology?
- The star calculation is — precession-corrected conjunctions to bright fixed stars is old technique. The starseed interpretation laid over it is a modern belief system, and it is honest to keep the two apart.
- What if I have no conjunctions?
- That is the majority of charts. The reading then falls back on the life path number and Moon sign for a secondary type, which is a weaker claim and is presented as one.
- Can I be more than one type?
- Charts often show two or three conjunctions in orb. The tightest is taken as primary and the others as secondary influences.
